A PRINT
showing aviator Art Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana seated in his
airplane
This is
one of several Indiana history prints I've created from antique
real photo postcards and other sources.
This
one was created from an antique postcard produced around 1910. The
original image has been digitally enhanced and enlarged to 17
inches by 11 inches. It's printed with archival pigment inks on
heavy-weight 100% cotton rag watercolor paper for long life. The
overall paper size is 19 inches by 13 inches. The ink color is a
traditional warm carbon and the paper is slightly off-white to
match the ink. The print is designed to be framed and matted and
displayed behind glass.
The detail is still amazing. A
large crowd has gathered to watch Art Smith fly his plane. His
mechanic is standing at the propeller and Smith is strapped into
his seat. The photo was taken by John Inbody of Elkhart,
Indiana.
The number of repeat buyers of my
prints indicates that print quality meets or exceeds expectations.
This is what one customer says.
"I have several of Tom's prints, and I also have
copies of the postcards they
were made from. These are professional
restorations, not the low-res copies
of postcards that others are selling. The images
are incredibly sharp, and the
amount of detail that becomes visible in the
enlargement process is amazing. I
always see things in the print that I never
noticed on the postcard itself. Between
the crispness of the images and the lovely warm
colors of the ink and paper,
looking at one of Tom's prints transports you back
in time and makes you feel
like you're part of the original
scene!"
This print will be carefully
