BIOGRAPHY: William Baggett ,born in Montgomery Alabama in 1946,is currently a Professor of Art at The University of Southern Mississippi. Before arriving at USM, he taught for 13 years at the University of Mississippi and Auburn University. While an instructor at Auburn, he was recognized in 1982 with an endowed Alumni Professorship for Scholarly and Creative Achievement. He also received The University of Southern Mississippi's Faculty Award of Excellence for Creative Research and Achievement. His work is included in permanent collections throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Since 1995, his painting has focused primarily on the development and execution of two monumentally-scaled, figurative mural commissions for the Library of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and the WinfredWiser Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
